"I'll Come Back Around" out now ❤️

hello again my friends, i’m very happy to be writing this while sitting outside in my favorite place, enjoying some sunshine and trying not to check instagram every 5 seconds. The first single off the album i’ve been talking about for months now is out everywhere. I’d like to limit how much I do free promotion for evil streaming platforms so i won’t be linking to any of them, I’m sure you already know how to use whatever music streaming app you have. If you feel so inclined, I strongly encourage using Bandcamp whenever possible. “I’ll Come Back Around” is there for free, plus an additional song that won’t be available anywhere else until the album releases, and you can also pre-order the album. If I get a decent number of digital pre-orders (thanks to everyone who already did!) I’ll be able to order some CDs and maybe even vinyl??
“I’ll Come Back Around” seems a fitting song to be the first one out of the gate, for a few reasons. so much in my life was in the midst of monumental change when i released Subject To Change. moving upstate, ending a nearly 10-year-long relationship, and then major band lineup changes all happened one after the other and i felt like i needed a break from serious music making to catch my breath, knowing i’d find energy for it again at some point. looking back now i realize i never really gave myself that break, for better or worse. regardless, i did eventually get my feet back under me and i feel like i’m ready to take this shit seriously this year. i’m coming back around!! get it??
the other reason it feels like a good kickoff single is musically it’s kind of two songs in one, and i think it’s a good cross-section of what you can expect on the rest of the album.

i posted a clip of this song on instagram after i first wrote it last winter and my mom texted me asking if i was really going to let my hair turn brown again. i did briefly consider it but it just doesn’t feel like me. i think i’m actually meant to have crayola red hair.
